Changes of shape, new forms

Reagan's legacy would have us believe liberals enjoy a decaf, triple shot, grande,sugar-free vanilla, skinny, extra white mocha, extra hot, no whip, no foam, extra drizzle marble mocha macchiato more than any concept of self governance. No longer is the idea of individual freedom allowed to be as bold as deserving a treatise of its own; or even just a little letter. Instead of thinking that no man's knowledge can go beyond his experience, we can simply look to the way he eats jellybeans.

Strange how we witness the best ideas of our humanity destroyed by hysterical politics. Released from the burden of being passive subjects of a king or church or to accept class status unthinkingly people should be able to eat their confectionary voluntarily; a contractual rather than filial relationship. And like any great mercantile mind, we expect a return on the investment of liberty in a particular state of control.

However, it seems that many who govern think as banks who devour trust and waste with mystical profligacy. Perhaps we are in a time of sub-prime ideology, where the desire for ever greater returns reduces us all to wanting nothing other than self-preservation.

Perhaps we need another carpenter to remold our crooked timber.
